The Idaho Freedom Foundation President Wayne Hoffman on Thursday released the following statement in reaction to the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on Obamacare:
“While many of us today are angry about the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on Obamacare, Idaho lawmakers who supported the insurance exchange are overjoyed. They gave up fighting Obamacare long ago, so they feel vindicated by the court’s ruling. When President Obama says his health care law is here to stay, he can now can thank the Supreme Court, the Idaho Legislature and Gov. Butch Otter for helping with that.”
The court ruled 6 to 3 Thursday to ignore Obamacare’s plain language that bars the use of subsidies--and by extension, Obamacare penalties--in states that refuse to establish an insurance exchange.
Hoffman concluded, “Even though some state lawmakers and Gov. Otter are working dutifully to make Obamacare ‘successful,’ IFF will continue to do everything it can to oppose the health care law, including continued opposition to Medicaid expansion likely to be considered in the 2016 legislative session.”
