In a close vote, 9-8, the House Revenue and Taxation Committee passed legislation Thursday giving Boise County the ability to bond to help get out of debt, according to the Idaho Statesman.

The county is in debt following a lawsuit in which the county was found guilty of illegally blocking a treatment center for teens. The ruling said the county owed $5.4 million.
