House Bill 340 — Firefighters, collective bargaining (+1)

House Bill 340 — Firefighters, collective bargaining (+1)

Bill Description: House Bill 340 would restrict the scope of the collective bargaining process for firefighters to wages and pay rates.

Rating: +1

Does it increase government spending (for objectionable purposes) or debt? Conversely, does it decrease government spending or debt?

Section 44-1802, Idaho Code, contains a provision allowing firefighters to use the collective bargaining process to negotiate "wages, rates of pay, working conditions and all other terms and conditions of employment."

House Bill 340 would strike "working conditions and all other terms and conditions of employment," limiting the scope of firefighters’ collective bargaining efforts to wages and pay rates.

This change could reduce costs to taxpayers by providing greater flexibility to local fire stations and limiting the demands that can be included in collective bargaining agreements.
