The CDC has just released vaccine exemption rates among kindergarten enrollments across the 50 states for last school year, 2025–2026. Idaho leads the nation by far at 17.5%. This number represents children who have any type of exemption on file — medical, philosophical, or religious — and for any percentage of the mandated injections. This could represent a child being exempted from just one vaccine, or the full list.
Following Idaho, the next closest state is Utah, with 12.7% of kindergarteners having some type of exemption submitted for enrollment.
The data are reported one year in arrears, so these numbers do not necessarily represent the current numbers as we start the 2026–2027 school year.
The previous report, for the 2024–2025 school year, showed a 16% exemption rate for Idaho. Exemption rates are increasing nationwide each year, with Idaho continuing to lead the way. Great legislative work by Idaho Freedom Foundation and Health Freedom Idaho has helped Idaho become a beacon of freedom from vaccine mandates. There is still more work to be done!

Typically, in discussing the exemption rates each year, in an effort by vaccination proponents to decrease the number of parents opting their children out of the mandate, the conversation turns to measles. A common scare tactic they employ is to convince unwitting parents their children will die horrific deaths without Big Pharma’s injectable products. The facts illuminate a substantially less dramatic picture.
Measles is a mild, short-term infection. Contracting it naturally creates true, lifelong immunity. This is why our grandparents were all exposed and recovered easily in about 7 to 10 days.
Unless a population is severely malnourished and vitamin A deficient, there is very little risk from exposure. In fact, there is evidence that natural immunity to measles primes the human immune system to more easily and quickly defeat certain cancers.
Conversely, the risks of injecting the adjuvants and excipients in the MMR vaccine include chronic disease and devastating consequences for many people. There is also a conversation to be had about primary and secondary vaccine failure in many individuals. These biologics are not one-size-fits-all.
Find a good provider to consult about medical decisions for yourself and your children. Not only are there plenty of allopathic physicians, Idaho has many naturopathic, homeopathic, and other holistic providers with valuable information and knowledge.
Many people have been injured by vaccines and realized these products are not always safe or effective. No one knows your children as well as you do. Each of us has a responsibility to make medical decisions for our children. Don’t let schools or others tell you vaccination “requirements” cannot be sidestepped. Idaho is the leader in vaccination freedom, and our exemption rate shows it.
