Idaho Freedom Foundation president Wayne Hoffman issued the following statement regarding Gov. Brad Little vetoing House Bill 314, the School and Library Protection Act:
We are dismayed and outraged that Little would choose to betray children and families like this, choosing instead to give in to the pressure from the special interests that have been all too eager to expose children to harmful materials.
His veto statement recycled the same tired arguments that had already been negated in debates on the House and Senate floors. This veto is a concession to the same special interests that seem to have a vested interest in putting obscene, graphic, and pornographic material into the hands of children to begin with.
As you know, the Idaho Freedom Foundation has been exposing obscene materials in Idaho libraries for years. In 2021, we warned the public and lawmakers about a woke non-profit coordinating with the Idaho Commission for Libraries to disseminate books to toddlers about gender identity and sexual orientation.
In 2022, we demonstrated how direct cash grants from Washington were being used to circumvent local control of libraries. We exposed how libraries were stocking their shelves with graphic children’s books promoting, among other things, kinky sex, sexual deviancy, and early sex among children.
In 2023, we brought national attention to how Idaho public school libraries have become facilitators for a far-left agenda that warps both sex and gender through exposure to pornographic material as well as noxious propaganda. We showed how a system of reviewers, stakeholders, federal agencies, and public employees facilitates the provision of inappropriate books for minors in our public schools and libraries.
When House Bill 666 was killed in a Senate committee drawer last year, the people of Idaho responded by electing the most conservative Senate in a generation. Now H314 passed both the House and Senate, but was killed by a governor too afraid of entrenched interests to do what is right.
With your support, we will continue to expose what is being smuggled into our public schools and the children’s sections of our libraries as well as the special interests who enable it.

Question? Thoughts about the Bible being banned as well? There are MANY stories what incite rape, incest, and gay sex. So if you’re going to ban other books yall better add this fine mythical fiction to the list as well. Shouldn’t it be up to parents to decide what their children read? Movies and TV shows are READILY available to watch with more vivid content, I don’t see anyone bitching about that. Just like with gun policies your group supports, they are going to get the information one way or another. Let the parents decide if thr books are approperate and stop taking people’s freedoms away, isn’t that was your group is about FREEDOM?!?! Because I find it is very hypocritical of what you all protray your ” freedom foundation” being. Keep your the Bible out of government and allow people to have their American given rights and stop taking them away. Thank you!
I feel you, when I read an article and see the word “woke” it throws all creditability away instantly. I wish someone at the IFF would give us a definition of what they think it means. I have asked several times and no response. It is just a FOX news parroted word that is added to agitate the right.
Woke refers to the state of being alert and attuned to the layers of pervasive oppression in society. Growth for the woke movement is measured by fracturing. It is an ideology with fundamentalist and cultlike characteristics that is on a collision course with Christianity. Woke is a revolution which elevates will over reason, the group over the person, and human power over higher authority.
Christianity has no place in politics in America. 1A all the way. Sometimes the group should be elevated over the person. Woke is a term coined during the Civil Rights movement, its definition
is an adjective derived from African-American Vernacular English (AAVE) meaning “alert to racial prejudice and discrimination”.
Brad, I would suggest that you read the book “Awake, Not Woke”. If you are willing to have an open mind, it might be insightful to you in understanding what “woke” means.
Sorry, I am not currently looking to be indoctrinated. I would like to keep my open mind.
I will pray for you, Brooke, as you refer to the Bible as “fine mythical fiction”. I hope someday you will realize the error of your ways and encourage those who want to keep Biblical principles, like the Ten Commandments, as a foundational basis of our American government. Yes, Brooke,
In God We Trust!
I use to feel the same way as you Brooke. That is, until my daughter got a book from the library and came to me confused one day because a section in the book legitimized and supported a second grader becoming the opposite sex. I had no idea that this book, which appeared to be a girls empowerment book, had a section on transgenderism. Since when is it ok to introduce a child to this type of gender ideology without the parents consent. Brooke it is apparent that you don’t have God in your life, know his word or his love for mankind. These gender ideologies are a direct threat to mankind and the future of our society. Brook, I will pray that you come to know the Lord. He loves you.
