State law allows taxing districts option to raise taxes

Taxing districts in Idaho each fiscal year have the option of raising taxes by a maximum of 3 percent, according to a story in the Twin Falls Times-News.

There is also another provision for districts referred to as a foregone balance. When taxes are not raised as allowed by law, a district may collect the difference between what it is allowed to levy and it actually did levy.
