The state's request for bids for purchase $60 million worth of laptops and support services did not produce competitive bids, according to a story in the Idaho Statesman. The result is that the state will now negotiate with vendors directly to fill the order.

Despite the setback, the state anticipates the negotiations will result in the delivery of laptops to the schools sometime this fall.
