Senate Concurrent Resolution 116 — Civics education

Senate Concurrent Resolution 116 — Civics education

Bill Description: Senate Concurrent Resolution 116 would encourage the Idaho Department of Education to promote traditional civics instruction.

Rating: +1

Does the bill reinforce the idea of equal treatment under the law, merit, individual responsibility, personal agency, and expectations of academic excellence?

Senate Concurrent Resolution 116 would encourage the Idaho Department of Education, through its social standards review process, to adopt a curriculum that promotes western civilization, our national founding principles, and the U.S. Constitution. While one would think that these standards would be inherent in the notion of what public education should be about, a push from the Legislature in this direction is certainly helpful.
