Senate Bill 1259 — Plumbing certificate exemption

Senate Bill 1259 — Plumbing certificate exemption

by
Lindsay Atkinson
January 29, 2020

Bill description: SB 1259 exempts manufactured home installers from having to obtain a certificate of competency for plumbing work.

Rating: +1

Does it increase barriers to entry into the market? Examples include occupational licensure, the minimum wage, and restrictions on home businesses. Conversely, does it remove barriers to entry into the market?

This bill exempts licensed manufactured home installers from the requirement to obtain a certificate of competency to do plumbing work. Manufactured homes are built in off-site factories, and installers set them up in their final location. The exemption granted in this bill allows installers to “make connections from manufactured home or mobile home sewer or water facilities to existing sewer or water facilities on-site.”
