Bill description: SB 1233 expands the types of people who are authorized to submit campaign finance reports.
Rating: +1
Does it give government any new, additional, or expanded power to prohibit, restrict, or regulate activities in the free market? Conversely, does it eliminate or reduce government intervention in the market?
SB 1223 would grant both candidates and political committees the authority to submit campaign finance reports for their campaigns. Currently, only a candidate or committee treasurer can submit these reports to the Idaho Secretary of State. This bill would ensure that candidates and committees are able to submit their reports if they so choose or if their treasurers are unavailable to do so.
This bill carries an emergency clause, so it would be effective retroactively, beginning Jan. 1, 2020.
