House Bill 531 — Controlled substances for medication-assisted treatment

House Bill 531 — Controlled substances for medication-assisted treatment

by
Lindsay Atkinson
February 26, 2020

Bill description: HB 531 would amend the Idaho Telehealth Access Act to let providers prescribe controlled substances in cases of medication-assisted treatment.

Rating: +1

Does it give government any new, additional, or expanded power to prohibit, restrict, or regulate activities in the free market? Conversely, does it eliminate or reduce government intervention in the market?

HB 531 would allow providers that have an established relationship with a patient to issue a telehealth prescription of a controlled substance for use in a medication-assisted treatment of a substance abuse disorder. This bill would allow telehealth providers to more accurately and remotely treat substance abuse disorders of their patients.
