House Bill 502 — Home brewing

House Bill 502 — Home brewing

by

February 18, 2020

Bill description: HB 502 would alter Idaho law on home brewing.

Rating: 0

Does it give government any new, additional, or expanded power to prohibit, restrict, or regulate activities in the free market? Conversely, does it eliminate or reduce government intervention in the market?

HB 502 removes a provision in current law that home brewers of beer and wine must produce their beverages from “native grown products.” By removing this provision, this bill allows these beverage makers to use out-of-state ingredients for their products.

This bill also adds new language to quantify the limit on how much home-brewed beer an Idaho household can produce each year. Specifically, households with one adult can produce up to 100 gallons per year. Households with two or more adults can produce up to 200 gallons per year.
