House Bill 348 — Elimination of the Electronic Recording Commission

House Bill 348 — Elimination of the Electronic Recording Commission

by

January 22, 2020

Bill description: HB 348 would eliminate the Electronic Recording Commission.

Rating: +1

Does it create, expand, or enlarge any agency, board, program, function, or activity of government? Conversely, does it eliminate or curtail the size or scope of government?

This bill repeals the legal basis for a 7-member commission, created in 2007, to make rules about electronic recording. This commission was specifically created so that individuals appointed by the governor could create regulations that local government recorder offices have to follow. These local government offices maintain legal documents pertinent to the lives of local residents, including deeds, marriage licenses and records of liens.
