HB 484 - Plumber inactive license

HB 484 - Plumber inactive license

by
Phil Haunschild
February 5, 2018

Bill Description: HB 484 would allow plumbers to receive an inactive certificate of competency for increased lengths of time.

Rating: +1

Does it directly or indirectly create or increase any taxes, fees, or other assessments? Conversely, does it eliminate or reduce any taxes, fees, or other assessments?

HB 484 would allow for inactive certificates of competency to last for more than just one year. These certificates are issued to plumbers who do not intend to work in their trade immediately but wish to maintain the option of returning to work in the future without having to go back through the full license process. Extending the once-a-year renewal requirement would reduce the cost for these plumbers. Rather than paying the $36 fee each year, they would only have to pay this once. This would also reduce the burden it takes to maintain their inactive license while they are not practicing their profession.
