Bill description: HB 364 would allow the recipients of oversize vehicle permits to obtain their permits electronically.
Rating: +1
Does it directly or indirectly create or increase any taxes, fees, or other assessments? Conversely, does it eliminate or reduce any taxes, fees, or other assessments?
By allowing the drivers of oversize vehicles to obtain their permits electronically rather than only as a hard copy, HB 364 would reduce the bureaucratic cost to the individual in terms of their their time and hassle. Idaho law currently requires drivers of oversize vehicles to keep a copy of their permit with them at all times in their vehicle and to present it whenever they are inspected. By only allowing for a hard copy, current law creates an inefficiency in our state government as they are forced to process extra paperwork. Additionally, the drivers are subjected to an extra inconvenience as their copies are easily damaged or misplaced while in the vehicle. The electronic copy would improve efficiency within the state government and ensure a more secure medium for the permit while it is in the driver’s possession.
