Ada County Highway District leaders discuss transparency

Ada County Highway District leaders discuss transparency

by

The Ada County Highway District commissioners discussed transparency on Wednesday. The idea of posting line-item expenditures on the ACHD website was raised by the agency's newest commissioner, Sara Baker. She served on the Boise City Council for a number of years and conveyed the importance of providing data on the agency's website so that taxpayers could see every nickel being spent. There was a quite a bit of push-back and skeptisim. Commissioner Sherry Huber, in particular, said she's concerned about taking staff time and agency money and using both for transparency when ACHD should be building and maintaining roadways. The commission told ACHD's staff to keep taking a look at the idea and make recommendations at an upcoming meeting. We'll keep you posted as to what happens.
