Senate Bill 1111 — Electronic notarization

Senate Bill 1111 — Electronic notarization

by
Phil Haunschild
February 26, 2019

Bill description: SB 1111 would allow a notary public to work electronically.

Rating: +1

Does it give government any new, additional, or expanded power to prohibit, restrict, or regulate activities in the free market? Conversely, does it eliminate or reduce government intervention in the market?

Under current law, a notary public can only notarize a hard-copy document in person. SB 1111 would allow a notary public to notarize documents electronically, such as over Skype, and would allow them to notarize electronic documents in person. This would allow notary publics much greater ease in their work in the 21st century.
