Senate Bill 1125 — Commodity warehouse electronic receipt

Senate Bill 1125 — Commodity warehouse electronic receipt

by
Phil Haunschild
February 26, 2019

Bill description: SB 1125 would allow agricultural commodity warehouses to issue electronic receipts.

Rating: +1

Does it give government any new, additional, or expanded power to prohibit, restrict, or regulate activities in the free market? Conversely, does it eliminate or reduce government intervention in the market?

Under current law, licensed agricultural commodity warehouses must issue printed receipts to farmers, growers, dealers and others who store their products in the warehouse. These receipts must be issued on forms provided by the state Department of Agriculture.

SB 1125 would give these warehouses the option to issue receipts electronically, which could reduce their costs, streamline their work and allow them to stay updated with current technology.
