North Idaho anti-hate group receives $370,000 donation

It was quite a 20th anniversary gift for the Bonner County Human Rights Task Force, says a story in the Bonner County Daily Bee. The organization received a $370,000 donation that it will use to establish an endowment for its mission to combat hate groups in the area.

The group was founded in 1992 to combat the national furor stirred up by area resident Richard Butler and his white supremacist goal of establishing a homeland in the Bonner County area. While the publicity about such groups has diminished since the days of Butler, there are still elements of his legacy in the area, according to the story.
