Currently, Post Falls has six urban renewal districts. But, in November that will change as Riverbend Urban Renewal District will shut down.
According to the Coeur d' Alene Press, it is the second district to close in Post Falls, with another one shutting down in 2001.
With the closure comes an estimated $200,000 in increment funds that will be distributed to taxing agencies. Urban renewal has been a hot-button issue across the state the last few years as opponents argue that the private sector and free markets should be the ones creating and sustaining jobs.
