On Friday a bill that would specifically add code in the state of Idaho to update the Idaho Human Rights Act to protect gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people was killed by the Senate in less than 10 minutes, according to the Idaho Statesman.
Idaho's only openly gay legislator, Sen. Nicole LeFavour, D-Boise, cried when the bill was killed, saying it was political, saying, "... to allow politics to intercede when you know something is right or wrong, that is the most sinister statement you can make. Especially when you know people are living in fear."
Sen. John McGee, R-Caldwell, said he wouldn't be in favor of a bill that targeted a specific group, with little or no effect. "Where does this stop? Where do these special categories end?"
