Many in the Idaho Senate want to pay their respects to former Sen. Atwell Parry, R-Melba, who died Friday. His memorial service is set for Tuesday morning, which is leading to some shifts in the Senate’s schedule for the day. The Senate normally begins its session at 11:30 a.m., but will delay its start Tuesday until 2:30 p.m., so members can attend Parry’s funeral in Nampa.
Sen. Dean Cameron, R-Rupert, said he will be leaving his morning committee, the Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee (JFAC), early to attend the services. “We lost a great man and a friend,” Cameron told members of the committee Monday morning.
Parry served in the Senate for two decades. He was one of the chairmen of JFAC, the panel of lawmakers that writes the budget. He died on Friday after suffering head injuries in a one-car collision Jan. 14.
