Bill Description: Senate Bill 1292 would amend existing Idaho law to require specific training topics for foster parents prior to licensure. Additionally, it would establish hours needed for licensing and add a requirement for assessments as a “check on learning to ensure understanding.”

Rating: 0

Does it increase barriers to entry into the market? Examples include occupational licensure, the minimum wage, and restrictions on home businesses. Conversely, does it remove barriers to entry into the market?

Senate Bill 1292 requires certain training as a prerequisite to licensure for foster parents. This creates a new barrier for people to become foster parents and increases government interference in the service market.
