Bill description: This bill amends the Idaho Educational Technology Initiative to include a requirement for public schools to account for their use of Initiative funding.
Does it in any way restrict public access to information related to government activity or otherwise compromise government transparency or accountability? Conversely, does it increase public access to information related to government activity or increase government transparency or accountability?
This proposal provides a higher level of public school accountability. The State Department of Education (SDE) has requested $8 million in additional technology spending. The governor is asking for $10 million. The Department of Education, however, has been unable to provide details about how schools use current funds when asked by the Idaho Freedom Foundation. (+1)
