The Idaho Senate approved a resolution affirming the state’s relationship with Taiwan. The Senate suspended its rules to consider the resolution Wednesday, because dignitaries from the island will visit the Capitol Thursday.
“Taiwan is now the second-largest destination of Idaho exports in the world,” said Sen. Russ Fulcher, R-Meridian. He said Idaho exported $652 million in goods to Taiwan in 2009, an 88 percent increase from 2008. “That country is extremely important to Idaho in terms of trade.”
