Second-hand liquor licenses go for big bucks in Idaho

Second-hand liquor licenses go for big bucks in Idaho

Around the state it's not uncommon to walk into a dining or bar establishment and see a "liquor license pending" sign. Well, in a story from the Idaho Press-Tribune, if a business doesn't want to wait for approval, it can lease a liquor license from someone else for around  $1,500 per month (the going rate in Boise).

Or, if they want to outright buy one from someone who has already obtained a license, the business better be willing to fork out around $140,000 for it.

Liquor brings in sales to alcohol-related businesses and makes up a big percentage of the revenue they take in.
