This week, you get to voice your opinion on the Common Core Content Standards.
Early next year, state lawmakers like Rep. Dorothy Moon of Stanley will decide if Idaho should re-authorize the standards.
Thus, the Idaho State Board of Education will hold a Common Core standards repeal hearing on Oct. 3 at the American Legion Hall in Challis. The meeting will run from 6 pm to 9 pm.
The Idaho Freedom Foundation believes the top-down Common Core standards inhibit student achievement and block true local control and innovation in the classroom. We hope lawmakers will toss the standards next year.
This will only happen if decision-makers hear from people like you on the issue. That’s why it’s critical that you get out and voice your opinion. The teachers union will round up their posse in defense of the status quo; It’s on us to counter their wrong-headed defense of Common Core.
IFF has prepared a handy document if you’d like to review data and concerns ahead of this crucial hearing. You can view and download the document here.
