A day after the final adjournment by the Idaho House of Representatives, Idaho Falls Republican Russ Mathews, finishing his third term as a representative, took a few minutes to shares his thoughts on the 2010 legislative session with IdahoReporter.com.
Mathews said he feels the session was a "brutal success" because of the cuts legislators had to make. Mathews also responded to Democratic criticisms of several resolutions passed by lawmakers during the session which, sponsors say, affirm state sovereignty and states' rights. Democrats have called the measures a waste of time.
Mathews also spoke about his campaign for Congress in Idaho's 2nd Congressional District. Mathews will face Rep. Mike Simpson in a May 25 Republican primary election.
