Legislature 2012: Bills that made it through the session

March 31, 2012

With the conclusion of the 2012 legislative session comes a quick reflection on what bills were passed among the hundreds that were introduced. While hundreds of bills are proposed every year, only a relatively few make it the governor's desk for his possible signature.

According to the Idaho Statesman, there were several major pieces of legislation that got through this year.

Some of the more hotly contested issues that passed the Legislature include banning texting while driving, lifting the cap on charter schools, the bailout of Boise County and Gov. Butch Otter's job creation program--IGEM.
