For the 2012 legislative session, advocates of charter schools will be looking to lift the cap on the number of charter schools that are allowed to be created each year, as well as ways for schools to build new facilities and improve existing ones.
According to Ken Burgess, lobbyist for the Idaho Charter School Network, the want for new charter schools is there. Currently there are 43 charter schools in Idaho, and Burgess says there about 8,000 students currently on waiting lists to attend those schools.
