IFF announces creation of Center for Defense of Liberty
The Idaho Freedom Foundation has announced creation of the Center for Defense of Liberty. The center will focus on litigation challenging statist and unconstitutional laws around the state, looking out for Idaho’s best interests and the well-being of its citizens.
Geoff Talmon, a Boise attorney, will be the director of the center.
Geoff received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School, after having received a bachelor of business administration degree, with distinction, from the University of Michigan Business School.
Following law school, Geoff worked in the corporate law department of a large Midwestern law firm, assisting in the negotiation and execution of mergers and acquisitions of a wide variety of business entities. After leaving the Midwest, Geoff ran his own solo law practice before joining a small general litigation practice in Boise, gaining experience in civil litigation, criminal prosecution, criminal defense and family law.
"We hope to follow the lead of organizations like the Institute for Justice and the Goldwater Institute and use the power of the courts to protect the rights and liberties of the people,” said Talmon.
Wayne Hoffman, president of Idaho Freedom Foundation, say this is the next step for IFF and the people of Idaho. “IFF is constantly battling statism and overreach by government in Idaho. Having the ability to stand up for Idahoans through the courts was the next logical step for this organization, and an important one.”
Talmon agreed with Hoffman, saying, "This is precisely why I wanted to go to law school. To be able to help the little guy go against the odds and fight for liberty and justice for all. It doesn't get any better than that."
