Unless existing contracts for wind power are renegotiated or new agreements don't cover the actual costs thus giving Idaho Power some flexibility in mixing in wind power with its current sources of power, ratepayers will have to pay for the addition of the wind energy, according to a story in the Idaho Statesman.
An attorney for some wind power producers said Idaho Power's view is not valid, citing Bonneville Power Administration's ability to integrate power into its grid and because wind developer financing is already established and mandating new developers pay for costs of current contracts is not fair in assessing them for something they had nothing to do with.
