The Idaho Freedom Foundation, in conjunction with its sister organization, Idaho Freedom Action, is proud to announce the 2025 Idaho Freedom and Family Agenda. This policy slate is a series of conservative policies Idaho lawmakers should advance and ultimately adopt during the 2025 legislative session.
“The Idaho Freedom & Family Agenda is a thoughtful conservative roadmap for lawmakers who want to help families thrive by limiting government and reducing the state’s burden on families and businesses,” said Idaho Freedom Foundation President, Ron M. Nate Tuesday morning.
The Idaho Freedom & Family Agenda includes the following policy priorities:
- Universal education choice: Money should follow the student so parents can choose education opportunities best meeting their children's needs.
- Grocery tax repeal and property tax relief: Use every lever to ease tax burdens on families as inflation rages and housing costs soar.
- Eliminate wokeness in education: Public schools should teach children the ABCs, not the LGBTQs. Higher ed should equip graduates with marketable skills free from indoctrination.
- Address illegal immigration: Where the federal government fails, the state must act. End welfare for illegals, and use every tool to enforce immigration laws. Illegal immigration is a threat to Idaho security and prosperity.
- Advance sound money: Federal policies have devalued the dollar, costing families dearly. Allow Idahoans tax-free use of crypto, gold, and silver to protect against inflation.
- Spend responsibly: Idaho’s budget has grown 55% through the last five years. Lawmakers must restrain spending in every area to reduce government’s burden on families.
Additionally, IFF and IFA will continue to promote the following to make Idaho lawmakers and agencies accountable to the people:
- Government transparency and accountability: IFF will continue its excellent work in making sure government agencies report their activities and costs, and hold them to account for any violations, misspending, or malfeasance.
- Legislator accountability: The Idaho Freedom Index, long recognized as the “gold standard” for state-based legislative scorecards, now includes a new metric on protecting families and traditional values of Western society. Legislators’ Freedom Index scores will reflect their votes on all bills in this regard.
- Collaboration with other family groups: IFF and IFA look forward to building coalitions with other advocacy groups in the state. Together with partners committed to protecting families and promoting traditional values, we can be stronger than each going it alone.
“Idahoans spoke clearly during the May primaries: They demand bold, conservative victories to enhance the quality of life here in the Gem State,” Nate added. “We’re constantly told the Idaho Legislature is a leader in conservative policy making, but that’s just not true. Now, conservatives hold more power than ever, so it’s time for lawmakers to deliver or face the consequences in May 2026.”
The Idaho Freedom Foundation will work with lawmakers and educate them on how each policy point aids families and small businesses here in the state. Idaho Freedom Action will rally the grassroots around the agenda, and partner with tens of thousands of Idahoans to make their conservative demands clear to state lawmakers.
