Bill Description: House Bill 794 (H794) would limit the ability of school districts to promote action civics.

Rating: +2

Does it increase government spending (for objectionable purposes) or debt? Conversely, does it decrease government spending or debt?

H794 would stipulate that any absence caused by a student attending a protest or walkout will be unexcused and “count against the school district's average daily attendance.” Accordingly, this legislation would decrease funding to school districts, albeit marginally, that encourage action civics.

Does it promote the breakdown of the traditional family or the deconstruction of societal norms? Examples include promoting or incentivizing degeneracy, violating parental rights, and compromising the innocence of children. Conversely, does it protect or uphold the structure, tenets, and traditional values of Western society?

H794 would prohibit a school district, school, or teacher from permitting or granting excused absences to any student for participating in political protests, working or volunteering for a group known to engage in political protests, or participating in student walkouts. In effect, H794 would limit the ability of public schools to corrupt Idaho’s youth by promoting action civics, whereby students are encouraged to become political activists for social justice and other Leftist causes.
