Bill Description: House Bill 786 (H762) would increase the maximum duration of levies from two to four years.

NOTE: House Bill 786 is similar to Senate Bill 1094 from the 2025 legislative session.

Rating: -1

Does it directly or indirectly create or increase any taxes, fees, or other assessments? Conversely, does it eliminate or reduce any taxes, fees, or other assessments?

H786 would alter the current school district levy structure by increasing the maximum duration of levies from two to four years. This legislation would also allow the board of trustees to reduce or eliminate the levy at any given time. Overall, H786 is likely to result in an increase in property taxes by facilitating the passage of longer, more expensive supplementary levies.
