House Bill 472 — Sprinkler systems

House Bill 472 — Sprinkler systems

by

February 12, 2020

Bill description: HB 472 exempts fourplexes from requirements to have automatic fire sprinkler systems.

Rating: +1

Does it give government any new, additional, or expanded power to prohibit, restrict, or regulate activities in the free market? Conversely, does it eliminate or reduce government intervention in the market?

HB 472 exempts fourplexes from requirements to have automatic fire sprinkler systems, making the implementation of such systems the choice of the builder. Currently, only single family homes and duplexes are exempt from the sprinkler requirement. The statement of purpose for this bill states that the change is made for the purpose of uniformity, since some localities already offer this exemption to fourplexes.
