Bill Description: House Bill 299 prevents employees at public universities or colleges from offering extra credit to students to vote in a public election.

Does it in any way restrict public access to information related to government activity or otherwise compromise government transparency or accountability? Conversely, does it increase public access to information related to government activity or increase government transparency or accountability? 

This bill strengthens accountability and transparency of the electoral process by preventing employees at public universities or colleges from offering extra credit or course credit “to encourage a student to vote or not to vote or to influence a student’s vote against a candidate or ballot measure.”
