House Bill 229— Electrical apprentice cap

House Bill 229— Electrical apprentice cap

by
Phil Haunschild
March 7, 2019

Bill description: HB 229 would increase the number of apprentices a journeyman electrician could supervise.

Rating: +1

Does it give government any new, additional, or expanded power to prohibit, restrict, or regulate activities in the free market? Conversely, does it eliminate or reduce government intervention in the market?

Under current law, an electrical journeyman can only supervise two apprentices. Apprentices have to be under the constant on-the-job supervision of a journeyman electrician while they are performing installations. HB 229 would allow journeymen to supervise up to four apprentices, provided the journeyman is able to effectively supervise that many apprentices.
