House Bill 156 — Parole commissioners, compensation (-1)

House Bill 156 — Parole commissioners, compensation (-1)

Bill Description: House Bill 156 would implement a 33% pay increase for members of the Idaho Commission of Pardons and Parole.

Rating: -1

Does it increase government spending (for objectionable purposes) or debt? Conversely, does it decrease government spending or debt?

House Bill 156 would amend Section 20-1002, Idaho Code, to increase the compensation for members of the Idaho Commission of Pardons and Parole.

Currently, each of the commission’s seven members is paid $300 per day when "conducting parole, commutation, pardon, revocation or other hearings." The commissioners also receive reimbursement for "actual and necessary expenses subject to the limitations provided in section 67-2008, Idaho Code."

House Bill 156 would increase this compensation from $300 per day to $400 per day, which is an increase of 33%.

Such a significant increase is not justified by inflation or by the CEC awarded to other state employees.
