House Bill 122

House Bill 122

by
Phil Haunschild
February 9, 2017

Bill description: This bill allows architects to take an exam to practice in Idaho temporarily or through endorsement.

Rating: +1

Does it increase barriers to entry into the market? Examples include occupational licensure, the minimum wage, and restrictions on home businesses. Conversely, does it remove barriers to entry into the market?

This bill makes it slightly easier for architects who do not have a certificate from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards to work in Idaho. A qualified and capable architect without this one certificate is currently required to go through the entire application process as an architect without experience would. An exam would be a viable alternative for establishing professional qualifications. (+1)
