Hoffman: Otter's budget a 'tax-and-spend bonanza'

Hoffman: Otter's budget a 'tax-and-spend bonanza'

by
Wayne Hoffman, IFF’s former President
January 12, 2016

Idaho Freedom Foundation President Wayne Hoffman blasted Gov. Butch Otter’s budget document Monday, describing the plan as a “tax-and-spend bonanza.”

Here’s Hoffman’s full statement about the budget:

The governor's budget is a tax-and-spend bonanza. It disappointingly contains no tax relief, but rather offers stratospheric, unrealistic levels of state government expenditures. His budget should be declared dead on arrival with lawmakers who want to help Idahoans instead of just growing government.

Additionally, the governor's speech was devoid of exciting, bold, innovative and conservative policy ideas. My hope is that the Legislature will take this opportunity to fill the void and work on the conservative ideas that the governor's policy road map left out.

The Idaho Freedom Foundation is Idaho’s leading conservative think and the Gem State’s premiere organization dedicated to limited government, reduced federal dependency and individual liberty.
