With the 2010 Republican primary election a little more than a month away, IdahoReporter.com plans to interview each candidate vying for the seat currently held by Rep. Mike Simpson.
IdahoReporter.com is asking readers to submit questions for candidate interviews. Those who submit questions are requested to keep them short, to the point, and on matters of policy, not personality. Questions submitted will be asked of all candidates and there will be no selective questioning. If you would like to submit questions, please e-mail them to [email protected] by Tuesday at noon.
There are four politicians running in the primary race scheduled for May 25, including Simpson himself. He is joined in the contest by state Rep. Russ Mathews, R-Idaho Falls, Chick Heilson, also of Idaho Falls, and Katherine Burton of Boise. For the general election, the winner of the GOP primary will face Brian Schad, an Independent, and Mike Crawford, running as a Democrat.
Simpson easily won re-election in the general contest in 2008, beating Democrat Debbie Holmes by a count of 204,465 to 83,340. Simpson is serving his sixth term in the U.S. Congress.
