In light of the Supreme Court's approval of Obamacare and its implicaitons for the possible creation of a state-based health care exchange or a federal exchange and the impact the decision will have on how the state handles Medicaid, Gov. Butch Otter has appointed two panels to look into the issues and report back to him.
According to a story in the Idaho Statesman, Otter said he was not happy with the court's decision, but would like to look into the exchange idea and the possible expansion of Medicaid before deciding on a course of action in either area.
The Medicaid group is headed by Dick Armstrong, director the Idaho Department of health and Welfare. Bill Deal, head of the Idaho Department of Insurance, will lead the exchange panel.
