Getting rid of the governor's mansion easier said than done

Getting rid of the governor's mansion easier said than done

What to do with the donated J.R. Simplot home, which was donated to the state with the idea that it serve as the governor's mansion (but no governor has ever lived there), has generated plenty of ideas, but nothing that jumps out as a cure-all for ridding the state of the annual expense of $177,000 of maintaining it, according to a story in the Spokesman-Review.

How about a bed and breakfast, a winery, a convention site, a park, something for veterans. There is no shortage of ideas with around 50 submitted to date. But one thing all seem to agree on is that the best course of action is for the state to find some way to shed it as a state liability.
