A new term is cropping up in policy discussions related to Obamacare and the Medicaid expansion authorized but not mandated by it. The term is MAGI. Not to be confused with the "three wise men" from the Bible, MAGI is an acronym for Modified Adjusted Gross Income, and if the federal government gets its way, it will become the new standard by which eligibility for state and federal assistance programs is determined.
