Elk rancher and often political candidate Rex Rammell got another day in court this week when justices for the Idaho Supreme Court heard his suit over a 2006 order by then Gov. Jim Risch to destroy elk that had escaped from his private property in southeast Idaho, according to a story in the Idaho State Journal.
Rammell's contention is that the state and governor cannot order destruction of private property without good reason and in a timely manner. The state contends the animals, housed on a private game hunting area, constituted a danger because of possible disease.
