A Boise-based alternative energy company, Exergy, has halted its plan for a 116-watt system of wind farms in Idaho, according to the Idaho Statesman. The farms would have been located in Twin Falls, Lincoln and Bingham counties.
The story says the company is struggling to pay its bills. In addition, a federal tax investment credit would be lost to the company if the project is not completed by the end, with Exergy acknowledging that won't happen. In addition, the last session of the Idaho Legislature did not renew an energy sales rebate set to expire at the end of the year.
According to the company president, Exergy has $1.5 billion in wind, solar, biofuel and biomass projects throughout the country.
