The Blackfoot School District reached a settlement with its former superintendent in the amount of nearly $211,000, according to an Associated Press story in the Idaho Statesman, but tried to hide it by filing the agreement in his personnel file, which is private under state law.
However, a Blackfoot teacher, the Idaho Falls Post-Register and the Idaho Freedom Foundation filed requests to gain access to any settlement and that request was approved by a district judge, forcing the school district to release its settlement.
The district has made one payment to the former superintendent with another scheduled for July 2013.
