Senate Bill 1019 — Fish and game, meetings

Senate Bill 1019 — Fish and game, meetings

by

Bill Description: Senate Bill 1019 requires a public notice for every meeting of the Fish and Game Commission, and that the notice be published at least 10 days before the meeting.

Rating: +1

Does it in any way restrict public access to information related to government activity or otherwise compromise government transparency or accountability? Conversely, does it increase public access to information related to government activity or increase government transparency or accountability?

Senate Bill 1019 amends Section 36-104, Idaho Code, to insert the following provision regarding meetings by any commissioner of the Idaho Department of Fish and Game:

"Notice of every meeting, with a description of the time, place, and purpose of the meeting, shall be published on the website of the department of fish and game a minimum of ten (10) days prior to such meeting, and input regarding the purpose of the meeting shall be solicited from the public."

While this addition is positive, it is a basic transparency requirement that should be universally applied to all government meetings by all government entities.
