An Idaho woman has filed an anti-trust suit against Blue Cross of Idaho contending it violates anti-trust laws by sectioning off the country into non-competitive regions, reports the Associated Press in an Idaho Statesman story.
Blue Cross contends it has done nothing illegal and will fight the suit, which is being combined with other anti-trust suits filed against the national Blue Cross Shield Association.
The suit notes that Blue Cross dominates the full-service health insurance market in the state with 52 percent of the state's customers covered by Blue Cross, which the suit says is a result of non-competitive options. Regence Blue Shield of Idaho, says the story, has 22 percent of the market.
